Since I do
genealogy, one thing my mother asked me to do was to make sure her grandchildren
& great grandchildren always remembered her, Dad, our family and our lives.
She asked that our family history, for better or worse be documented with
pictures & videos. Mom usually kept everything. Overall we had a
wonderful family who I always thought loved one another. Neither she nor I
had any idea our family would endure heartache and things that should never have
occurred or we would have taken different measures to ensure final wishes were
respected. So... for better or worse, I'm documenting as she requested.
I made three copies of all family home videos and
converted videos to current technology. Pictures are all being labeled
with names, locations, etc. I will ensure things are documented to the
best of my ability in multiple locations to (I hope) ensure sustainability.
I'm an auditor, so I rely on facts as they are documented. My personal
frame of reference is only as to what I know for fact; at any given point in
time; and opinions and future opinions can easily change with additional
information.
I love my parents and miss them more than anyone could
ever understand. Mom was our glue. I'm sure she's rolling over and
over in her grave. I'm thankful for being poverty stricken & homeless
during this journey. It has given me such amazing insight.
My genealogy site is being rebuilt at
FindingEldorado.com.
